Jorge Salazar was born in 1951 in Guadalajara, Mexico; he has lived in New York City since 1973. A self-taught artist, he works chiefly with oil on canvas. His work deals with the aural value of human interaction. His works are in a number of private collections throughout the world. Past exhibitions include a solo show at PS-1 and a group show, "Totem" at Charles Cowles Gallery. Past honors include two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. He held an exhibition at Peter Bonnier/Len-Art Galleries, New York City, in December 1999, followed by his participation in "All Access," at CrossPathCulture New York City in November 2001, and his solo show "Homeless" at CPC NYC in April 2002.
